Instead of a Nacho bar, Try A Bruschetta Bar!

We love parties where guests can participate in the food experience as part of the event. We featured a nacho bar party on the Chronicles awhile ago. This year, Emma from gifts.com wanted to stop by with something new. Instead of Mexico, we’re taking our food cues from Italy with a bruschetta bar.

What is Bruschetta?

This popular Italian antipasto refers to grilled or toasted Italian bread, topped with olive oil and, often chopped tomatoes, garlic, and fresh basil. But there is more to bruschetta than tomato toppings.

Interested? Trade your chips for bread, and your cheddar cheese and guacamole for something a bit different. If your friends like Italian food, they should like this fun-to-make finger food, too.

Start with loaves of the best crusty Italian bread or Ciabatta you can find. You can even feature a few different types of artisan bread. Slice and coat bread with olive oil then toast in the oven or grill (not too much – just a little bit of char.)

Then it’s time for toppings. We have suggestions for cheeses, spreads, and meats. Arrange everything on your table and let guests make their own bruschetta creations.

Cheese ideas:

Our guide tells you which cheeses pair best with other popular toppings.

 Meats:

Find these at most supermarkets, or even better, an Italian deli.

Spreads:

Big, bold flavors make all the difference. Many of these can be store bought at Trader Joes or other specialty markets.

Fun Toppings:

Arrange everything in small bowls, and it’s helpful to write little ingredient cards for more unfamiliar toppings. We also have a recipe card you can print out for guests and display at your table.

Are we hungry yet? Your bruschetta bar can be the main food you serve at your party, or you can use smaller baguette sized bread and make it an appetizer for a spaghetti or pasta party. Serve along with flavored Pellegrino or Italian sodas.

Thanks, Emma and gifts.com for the inspiration and fab ideas!

Omg…I have yet to eat lunch and you’re killing me! 😂 I also recommend ajver, an Eastern European veg topping that is delish, for use as spread on these.

I love that idea! The more topping choices, the merrier!
