Grownup Jewelry Collection: The Stud Earring

jewelry wardrobe bracelet

Start building your forever jewelry collection as a teen or tween.

We’re continuing our series on building a timeless, grownup jewelry collection with the stud earring. If you missed our last post on dainty necklaces, you can find it here.

When you hear or read the words, stud earring, what comes to mind? Boring? Simple? Classic? Tiny? Dainty? We agree with all of those except for one. Studs are definitely not boring. Remember, when it comes to style, sometimes less is more.

If you collect a few studs in real metals, you can leave them in for more than one day. Also, they don’t compete with other jewelry. The stud earring is the perfect choice if you’re wearing a big, chunky necklace. You want all of your accessories to work together, not fight one another. So, we think studs let you do that.

As far as styling goes, if you style your hair with gorgeous and trendy boho braids, a stud earring complements the busy-ness of the hair, best.

Studs also work for casual and athletic wear. Kate and I wear ours when we work out.

Multiple piercings? Sure! Mix and match studs if you have one or two extra holes in your ears.

Have we convinced you yet? If so, have a look at our mood board for some shopping ideas.

Stud Earrings

1.  We think everyone should own a pair of simple gold ball earrings. These are not too small, so you can see them. They truly go with everything. If you don’t feel like thinking about your accessories too much, just throw these on and they’re a guaranteed win. They also come in white gold. $100.

2. Hortense does it again. We love her whimsical styles! These are called the Kiss Kiss (get it? xx) This stud is fun, chic, but also timeless. Hortense pricing is so affordable, too! Also in white and rose gold.

3. Another Chronicles favorite designer, Zoe Chicco! Zoe designed these beautiful gold bar earrings and added the tiniest of diamonds. These are modern, but will still go with everything. At $215, they’re more of an investment but will last forever.

4. Never underestimate the power of the pearl. There’s a reason girls have been buying and wearing pearl stud earrings for years. They’re feminine and beautiful. But, you can wear pearl earrings with a leather biker jacket just as easily as with a black dress. Pearls require a bit more care. Don’t leave these in overnight and avoid getting perfume or makeup on them. We found a beautiful pair at a great price at Blue Nile. $140
