The cover for A CUBAN GIRL’S GUIDE TO TEA AND TOMORROW is finally here! This book is coming October 6, 2020 from Atheneum Simon and Schuster. My entire team at Bookends Literary and S&S are so thrilled with this beautiful and colorful design.
Visit this post to read a lengthy synopsis, see the original announcement, view aesthetics, and read about my real Cuban family history, which I lovingly tucked into this beloved YA manuscript.
Yesterday, Las Musas, my organization for Latina authors revealed my cover in this blog post.
All about the cover:
Art Director: Kayrn Lee
Illustrator: Andrea Porretta
As my book features a Miami Cuban teen baker who spends an (unwanted) summer in England, Karyn and Andrea came up with the brilliant idea to mash-up these two parts of the world for the cover design. And two cultures, too. Lila’s Miami colors––seafoam, and shades of coral and the guava she bakes with backdrop the Winchester, England setting where she meets Orion Maxwell. Lila’s pastelitos de guayaba, and tea from the shop Orion’s family owns. St. Catherine’s Hill. Beautiful Winchester cathedral. And the gray cable knit sweater that has a starring roll in this story. It’s all here!
I had such a lovely response on social media when my cover dropped. Many readers and bloggers made some adorable memes and artwork.

I am still laughing over this one:
I received a sample book jacket from my publisher and it’s so fun having both of my books on my shelf.
