The Three “S” Birthday Money Breakdown!

So, it’s your birthday and you end up with a few extra dollars? Instead of running straight to Target or the mall or Gamestop, we have some tips to use your money wisely, and still have plenty of fun. We call it the Three S! Here’s Kate and her buddy, Maya, with the scoop:

Share a little–10%. Save a little–20%. Spend the rest. Let’s say you end up with a total of $100 in birthday money:

  1. SHARE: Donate $10 to your church, favorite charity, or pick up the tab on something for a friend.
  2. SAVE: Tuck $20 away for later. (You’ll be glad you did)
  3. SPEND: That leaves $70 to spend on something just for you! Treat yourself!
